Preventing Data Loss issue during Application update:

There is an intermittent Apple issue where application upgrades will very rarely erase an application's data. This anecdotally occurs in about one half of one percent of upgrades. It is not specific to Ontomni apps, as many other developers have commented on the issue from their apps. Always backup Listomni, Groceries, and Gifts data before upgrading:
  1. Find the Help & Extras Screen.
    • For Groceries and Gifts click the "i" button.
    • Listomni: this is a tab at the bottom of the screen, or under the "More..." tab
  2. Click the Backup option.
  3. Click the Backup row. (This will launch mail.)
  4. Mail the link to an email account you can get to on your iPhone or iTouch.

These steps will be reiterated in the Update Notes.

To restore from a backup:

  1. Launch Mail on your iTouch or iPhone.
  2. Find the backup email from above.
  3. Click the restore link. (This will launch Listomni, Groceries or Gifts) Step 1 below.
  4. Click "Restore from Backup" and "OK" on the following prompts. Step 2 below.
  5. Wait for the restore to complete. (Could take up to two minutes.)
